A picturesque A-frame home in Virginia that boasts a secret room and a seven-person hot tub has become one of the most-booked Airbnb rentals in the world. Now, its owner has lifted the lid on the very rocky road to rental superstardom, laying bare the many disasters that littered his patch to lucrative business success.

The Ava A-Frame on Airbnb sits atop a hill in Stanley, VA, and offers guests a lavish glamping experience for around $500 a night, depending on the date and length of the booking.

The home, which was designed by the owner (and Airbnb host) Amro, comes with a stargazing loft, home theater, game room, and stunning architectural features. It has drawn guests from across the world, with some traveling from as far as Tokyo to experience the unique property.

Indeed, the home has become such a hot commodity that booking a stay is next to impossible, with a waitlist spanning several years already in place.

However, thanks to YouTuber Chris Colgan, home enthusiasts can enjoy an exclusive tour of the impeccable abode—without having to fork out hundreds of dollars a night.

Colgan shared a tour of the glamorous property on his YouTube channel, while sitting down with Amro to get all the details of the home—from the unique design to the horrible situation that took place when an overseas guest came to visit.

From the outside, the four-story home, which can be seen from “down the road,” makes an imposing impression, courtesy of its modern take on the classic A-frame design.

The home is surrounded by lush landscaping, making it the perfect getaway. When guests enter the home, they are greeted by an expansive living room that flows to the chef’s kitchen, which boasts marble countertops.

But the most magical part of the property is surely the hidden basement, which is accessed through a spiral staircase underneath the kitchen. The basement boasts a large TV and cozy couch for guests to lounge on.

“This is probably one of the coolest features I have ever seen,” gushed Colgan as Amro pushed the island away to reveal the custom-built spiral staircase.

Although impressive, it was extremely difficult to plan, Amro admitted.

“It was hard to plan because you have the positioning of it when you’re actually framing the floor. You had to already know where it’s going to go, and this is an island, so it has to kind of be a standard distance from the the countertops.

“If you actually look from back here, obviously it’s also an A-frame, so these cabinets aren’t going on the wall, so everything was really well calculated,” the pro builder revealed.

The duo then headed into the primary bedroom, which is on the first floor and boasts an “en suite bath that’s accessible from outside.”

Moving to the very top floor, which Amro branded the stargazing loft, Colgan showcased the stunning area that had a “sunken bed” and “massive skylights” so you can see “every star” while lying there.

“The cabin’s thoughtful design extends to a sunken bed with 360-degree views in the loft, creating a stargazing paradise where you can immerse yourself in the beauty of the night sky,” Amro’s Ava A-Frame website reads.

“For moments of relaxation, Ava invites you to indulge in a seven-person hot tub, offering a soothing retreat with panoramic views of the entire valley. Whether you’re soaking under the stars or enjoying the scenic landscape during the day, the hot tub provides a perfect blend of luxury and natural beauty.”

Amro, the homeowner and Airbnb host, told Colgan that he knew he wanted to build something “unique” and “something that stands out from every other house.”

Amro told Colgan that he knew he wanted to build something “unique” and “something that stands out from every other house.

“A-frame was not my first pick, actually. I was super close to building a treehouse first,” he confessed.

Amro added that it was difficult to turn his plans to reality at first because roofers refused to “even touch it” when they came to give a quote.

The builder then revealed that he has had a wide variety of guests, including some who even flew internationally to take a peek at the property.

“It’s actually like extremely rewarding to see that people are willing to fly in and and do this. The farthest guest I’ve had that came and stayed here was from Korea, so that was awesome,” he shared.

However, while grateful guests would fly from around the globe, he confessed that he remembered that guest extremely well because he stayed late without informing him.

Amro also detailed the other disasters that took place at the property.

“The worst experience was two or three weeks after we started renting it out, and the house flooded. A guest did that by accident. So he left the faucet on and then … the bidet, and they left the night before, so it was like that all night.

“A handyman was coming to do some stuff outside, and he showed me the water. I was in New York at the time. I was so far, I couldn’t even come.

“I had just finished everything two weeks ago, and the movie theater got destroyed—the projector, posters, everything—and it had to be ripped out and redone,” he confessed.
