Opinion: STAT+: RFK Jr.’s regenerative medicine roundtable on stem cell deregulation raises red flags
RFK Jr.’s recent roundtable on regenerative medicine offers some worrying signs about his approach to regulating stem cells.

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. held a regenerative medicine roundtable on March 5.
Since rumors of this possible meeting began circulating, observers have been waiting anxiously for more information. It’s been seen as a likely first clear (or at least clearer) signal of how Kennedy might try to push the FDA to reduce oversight of cell therapies, particularly adult stem cells sold by unproven clinics. His now-famous October post on X claiming the FDA was suppressing good things like stem cells and peptides left many in the biomedical sciences scratching their heads about what he meant.
