A showcase of its Italian heritage, in-depth masterclasses and tastings of international brands are on the agenda for Zonin1821’s UK event.

Zonin1821 has confirmed the programme for its UK portfolio tasting, which takes place at Haberdashers' Hall, London, on Tuesday, 25 March. The event, which is exclusively for the wine and hospitality industry and its associated press, offers a chance to sample the company’s well-known Italian wines, but also to explore its wider offering.
180 wines will be on show, sourced from 30 of the Zonin1821 portfolio producers. Unsurprisingly, Italian wines will lead the way, with the namesake brand at the front and other Zonin Family Estates also prominently featured in the tasting.
However, attendees will also have the chance to sample wines from France, Spain, South Africa, Chile, Argentina , New Zealand and Lebanon. Those wines come from the wider portfolio, which includes producers from Champagne, Mendoza, Rioja and more.
The range will reflect the prominence of Zonin1821 in the Italian wine world. Founded in 1821 in Gambellara, Veneto, it has grown to become the largest Italian family company producer of Prosecco and one of Italy’s foremost wine producers. Annual production amounts to more than 50 million bottles, of which 85% are exported.
Masterclasses and event partners
Despite the company’s global reach, the portfolio tasting will not neglect its Italian rots. The range of masterclasses, as well as exciting collaborations for the event, will show off the distinct national flavour of the portfolio.
Christopher Burr MW will host two masterclasses on the day, joined in each by Federica Zanghirella, vice chair of the UK Sommelier Association.
In the first, at 1pm, he will host a double vertical tasting of top white wines from Ca’Bolani: Opimio Pinot Bianco and Aquilis Sauvignon Blanc. Roberto Marcolini, winemaker at the Fruili estate, will help present the tasting.
In the second masterclass, at 2:30pm, Burr and Zanghirella will guide attendees through the wines of Chianti estate Castello di Albola alongside winemaker Alessandro Gallo. The tasting will pair the wines with traditional Tuscan dishes by chef Giovanni Zagni.
Further Italian flavour will come from Italian-born artist Francesco Poiana, who will perform at the tasting. It will also be covered by London One Radio, the official Italian radio station in the UK, which will broadcasting throughout the day.
