Nike teams up with Skims to launch new women’s activewear brand

Nike is partnering with Kim Kardashian’s Skims to launch a new activewear brand called NikeSkims.

This marks the first time the global sporting giant has collaborated with an external company to introduce a brand, combining Nike’s expertise in sports performance with Skims’ knowledge of inclusivity and design for the female form.

The new collaboration, which has been in the works since October 2023, aims to offer women’s training apparel, and eventually footwear and accessories, tailored for high-intensity workouts.

NikeSkims will feature the Nike’s innovative textiles, like Dri-Fit, alongside unique design innovations specifically created for the Skims brand.

According to the sporting brand’s president of consumer, product and brand Heidi O’Neill, the partnership brings together Nike’s athlete-tested products and Skims’ attention to body inclusivity.

She said: “It’s this great clash of performance product — athlete tested, athlete inspired — with Skims’s incredible attention to the female form of the body and inclusivity.” She emphasized that the goal is to help women “feel strong and sexy.”

NikeSkims is set to debut its first collection in spring 2025. The initial drop will be available on both the brand’s websites, as well as select retail stores across the United States. A global rollout is expected to follow in 2026.

Nike plans to sell the products through its extensive retail network, and the collection is expected to focus on training apparel before expanding to include accessories and footwear.

Nike Women VP/GM Amy Montagne added “Nike has always had an unrivalled belief in and commitment to women athletes,”

“With NikeSkims, we’re deepening that support, listening to the voices of our athletes and women around the world and meeting their needs with a unique and disruptive point of view rooted in strength and style.”

The news comes as Nike has struggled in recent years, with a sharp decline in stock value, job cuts, and mounting competition from emerging brands such as On and old competitors who’ve enjoyed a boom in sales such as Adidas, as the business works to regain its footing under new CEO John Donahoe.
