Eight Chevy Corvettes Stolen from Factory Lot in Kentucky

We’ve seen stories of enterprising thieves stealing cars right off of factory storage lots, but this most recent incident might take the cake. Thieves hit the Chevrolet Corvette factory in Bowling Green, KY, last week, taking eight cars on a short-lived expedition.

An officer from the sheriff’s department saw one of the cars parked at a local apartment complex before it was reported stolen, noting a “new maroon Corvette” in his report. He also stated that the car still had its factory coverings and labels in place. After the report, the sheriff contacted Bowling Green police, who had not received any stolen vehicle alerts. They reached out to General Motors, and only then did the automaker realize it was missing at least eight vehicles.

Thieves cut a fence to gain access to the storage lot, but their follow-up planning needs some work. Getting away in any stolen vehicle is difficult, but moving eight brightly-colored, attention-grabbing Corvettes seems impossible. Two of the cars were found at the apartment complex, and others were found not far away. A pair of suspects attempted to sell the Corvettes in a Lowes parking lot, and police were able to arrest one – 21-year-old Deantae Walker.

Social media posts on the incident show police hauling the Corvettes off on a flatbed. While some of the images show a ZR1, GM confirmed that it was not one of the vehicles stolen.
