China’s rail cargo hits 622 mn tonnes, up 2% YoY in early 2025
China's railway network transported 622 million tonnes of cargo in the first two months of the year, a 2 per cent YoY increase, including 301 million tonnes of coal to support power plants. Passenger trips surged 4.7 per cent YoY to 726 million, a record high. The railway industry continues to optimise services, boosting economic activity and ensuring stable supplies.
