Westfield London has opened a brand-new permanent Sensory Room, designed to offer a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space for all visitors.
The facility, located within Europe’s largest shopping and leisure destination, provides a calming environment tailored to support children, adults, and families.
The Sensory Room was developed in collaboration with sensory specialists and Jack Tizard School, a Hammersmith and Fulham-based school supporting children with severe learning difficulties.
The room features soothing lighting, interactive visual projectors, tactile elements, and soft furnishings, all aimed at reducing stress and promoting relaxation.
Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield head of shopping centre management Katie Wyle said: “We are dedicated to creating an inclusive environment for all our visitors.
“The new sensory room demonstrates our commitment to ensuring everyone, regardless of sensory needs, can have a comfortable and enjoyable experience at our centre. We are proud to provide this safe space and continue making Westfield London a welcoming destination for our entire community.”
The Sensory Room is part of Westfield London’s wider accessibility initiatives, which also include the sponsorship of Purple Tuesday, an annual event focused on raising awareness of both hidden and visible disabilities.
The centre has introduced several additional services, including free sensory packs, Sunflower Lanyards for discreet support, and designated Quiet Hours, designed to create a more accommodating environment.
The Sensory Room will be open during the centre’s regular operating hours: Monday to Saturday, from 10:00am to 9:00pm, and Sunday from 12:00pm to 6:00pm. Access is free, but pre-booking is required.
