US Prez Donald Trump triples tariffs on low-value imports from China

Under US President Donald Trump’s latest executive order, tariffs on Chinese goods valued under $800 will triple from 30 per cent to 90 per cent starting May 2, 2025, effectively ending the ‘de minimis’ exemption. A flat postal fee of $75 per item will also apply, increasing to $150 from June 1. Additionally, a 50 per cent surcharge raises total tariffs on Chinese imports to 104 per cent.
