THE WHAT? The Body Shop is making a comeback in Belgium and Switzerland, with new stores planned under the direction of German businessman Stefan Herzberg.

THE DETAILS Following its exit from Belgium after bankruptcy and the closure of 33 Swiss stores by former franchisee Coop, The Body Shop is relaunching in both markets. Herzberg, former Karstadt executive, has secured the licences for Belgium and Switzerland, as well as for Germany and the Netherlands. He plans to open new stores this year, including potential partnerships with Belgian department store Inno and standalone retail outlets. In Switzerland, the search for new locations is already underway.

THE WHY? Backed by owner Auréa, The Body Shop is aiming to rebuild its European footprint by tapping experienced regional operators. With Herzberg driving the revival and exploring franchise opportunities, the brand is looking to reestablish itself in key European markets through a mix of retail and department store presence.
