Photo-Switchable Supercapacitors based on Photo-Responsive Azopolymers: Enabling Dual-Functionality in Tunable High Capacitance and Low Self-Discharge (Adv. Energy Mater. 13/2025)

Supercapacitors

In article number 2405480, Pooi See Lee and co-workers designed reversible photo-switchable supercapacitors utilizing azobenzene-containing polymer composite electrolytes to achieve significant capacitance modulation with a fast response. Upon UV light exposure, the capacitance increases, while visible light exposure effectively reduces self-discharge. This dual-functional operation enables remote control of energy storage properties, offering versatile applications in smart energy systems and next-generation optoelectronic devices.
