Monday Night Brewing files lawsuit against Coors
Atlanta brewery Monday Night has entered a trademark dispute with Molson Coors over its Monday-themed Super Bowl ad campaign. Monday Night Brewing, which was founded in 2006, is one of the oldest independent breweries in Atlanta and reportedly stated that the Coors Light campaign shows “big business arrogance at a time when craft brewers are struggling around the country”. Monday Night brewing has expanded over the years to reach beyond its original brewery in West Midtown to include the Monday Night Garage in the West End as well as locations in Birmingham, Nashville, Charlotte and Knoxville. The case, which queries the sentiment of the advert was recently flagged by BeerBuzz in what is now being discussed by officials. Coors recently enlisted actor and comedian Timothy Simons, best known for Veep, in its new advert showcasing the chaos of a sitcom gone wrong - or having “a case of the Mondays”. As part of the campaign, has launched Mondays Light, limited-edition 12-packs available at retailers across the US. Last September, Molson Coors revealed plans to axe its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies in a move that sees it refocus on its “business objectives”. Prior to then, in the summer, the company beat analyst predictions in its first quarter results, but was still showing a drop in revenue. db has reached out to Coors for a comment on the lawsuit.
