Jascots prepares for portfolio tasting at The View

London-based wine wholesaler and importer Jascots' portfolio tasting returns this year with a new venue on 3 March.

Jascots tasting Held this year at The View at the Royal College of Surgeons on 3 March, the Jascots portfolio tasting features wines from 85 producers and an exclusive masterclass with Cara Lee Dely from Bolney Wine Estate. The single-day tasting welcomes visitors from 10am-5pm with producer stands, a Fine Wine showcase, a rapid chilling display from V-Tex, a spotlight feature on an ‘Essential Wines BTG Matrix’ and the chance to meet producers from new additions to the portfolio. The event will showcase a comprehensive journey through top winemaking regions. Jascots describes itself as a specialist premium wine supplier with an 'incredible range of exciting and delicious wines' focusing on archetypal producers from key regions. Miles Platt, head of Jascots, says: “We aspire to represent the very best of every region we work with. Our regional hero producers are all leading wineries in their respective regions, championing indigenous grape varieties, faithful to terroir, and passionate about making wines that celebrate the place they are from. They make exceptional quality wine with passion while respecting the environment and remaining stylistically authentic." To highlight Jascots' commitment to sustainability, the event will showcase the importer’s 30 organic and 19 biodynamic wine producers. Additionally, 92% of Jascot’s core range is sustainable, and the company supports producers who farm mindfully, even if they do not have official certifications. One example is Sartarelli from the Marche region, which has implemented its own 'Sartarelli Zero' certification. Show highlights The highlights at the Jascots tasting will include Champagne Alfred Gratien, known for vinifying each wine in its blend in oak barrels. Another standout is the 100% organic Provençal winery, Château d’Astros. Attendees can also look forward to well-known varieties such as premium Australian Shiraz from Wakefield Wines and traditionally made Chianti Classico from the small family producer Famiglia Losi. Classic wines with a twist will also be available, such as Prophet Rock’s Burgundian-style Chardonnay from New Zealand, sourced from the southern Central Otago region. Additionally, the show will focus on indigenous grape varieties, including Maturana Blanca, rescued from extinction by Juan Carlos Sancha, and Aglianico from the Mastroberardino estate, known for championing the unique Campanian grape variety. Chenin Blanc will also be given a spotlight due to its growing popularity in the UK. Spier Wine Farm will showcase four single-varietal Chenin wines, highlighting the versatility of this grape from fresh coastal sites to dry-farmed inland locations. Jascots will also present Chenin Blanc from pioneer David Trafford, made from 34-year-old vines. The topic of old vines is particularly relevant in the context of vine resilience in the face of climate change. The old vine advocate Garage Wine Co from Chile will also be featured, offering a selection of small lots of non-mainstream varietals, including Carignan, Garnacha, Cinsault, and País. Cara-Lee Dely, head winemaker at Bolney Wine Estate, will be hosting a discussion around innovation and new product development (NPD) and new initiatives at Bolney Wine Estate alongside a selection of the producer's wines at 1.30pm in the Newman Suite. Attendees interested in the masterclass are encouraged to contact marketing@jascots.co.uk to secure a space. Showcases The Fine Wine showcase features benchmark wines from prestigious wineries across top regions, including classed-growth Bordeaux, Super Tuscans, distinguished Burgundy, and iconic selections from California. These selections have been curated by Omar Raafat, the company’s head of fine wine, to provide an effective and relevant fine wine solution for the on-trade. The Essentials BTG Matrix will highlight the wines offered in its Essentials Range, analysing what makes a wine essential for a wine list: dependable quality, great value, versatility, and accessibility. As the agent for key agency brands such as Spier Wine Farm, Baron Philippe de Rothschild, and Wakefield Wines, Jascots has recently added Ramón Bilbao, Mar de Frades, and Argento to its portfolio. These companies represent well-known brands that enhance quality, recognition, reputation, and diversity. Attendees to the event will have the opportunity to meet winemaker Sara Bañuelos from Ramón Bilbao. The London tasting will mark the first introduction of Argento to Jascots customers and offers an excellent chance to experience wines from Argentina’s leading organic producer. In addition, as the UK agent for Schloss Johannisberg, Jascots is excited to launch an exclusive Prince Metternich wine. This project aims to establish the designation 'Rheingau Riesling' (RR) as synonymous with a style of Riesling that is dry, well-balanced, light, juicy, charming, and refined. The London tasting will be the first opportunity to sample the new wine, kicking off a series of initiatives as part of Jascots’ ‘Year of Schloss Johannisberg.’ Jascots is confident in its commitment to seamless customer service, consultative account management, and an outstanding wine portfolio. This ensures that it remains an attentive, flexible, and responsive supplier to its customers’ diverse needs. The firm looks forward to welcoming its customers and encourages anyone in the wine trade who hasn't yet sampled its range to register for the event on Eventbrite.
