HMV enjoys sales boost following BRIT Awards

HMV has seen its album and vinyl sales jump following the BRIT Awards at the weekend.

The retailer reported sales for Ezra Collective’s catalogue skyrocketed 1333% in store and online after the British Jazz Quintet performed with Jorja Smith.

Rachel Chinouriri, nominated for Best New Artist and Artist of the Year, experienced a 450% surge in sales week-on-week, while Rising Star winner Myles Smith saw demand for his A Minute…EP triple (308%).

Charli XCX, who took home five BRIT Awards, saw a 109% increase in sales for herBrat and it’s the same but there’s three more songs so it’s not deluxe’ album.

International Group of the Year nominee Amyl & The Sniffers saw a 400% surge in sales of their catalogue, while Teddy Swims’ catalogue doubled.

HMV managing director Phil Halliday said: “The BRIT Awards 2025 showcased the very best of British music, celebrating an eclectic mix of talent and introducing incredible artists to new audiences.

“The success of this year’s winners has led to a boost in sales at HMV, as fans continue to be inspired by the performances on the night, support homegrown talent and celebrate British music’s impact on the global stage.”

HMV owner Doug Putman is reported to be one of several interested parties in acquiring WHSmith’s 500+ store high street business.
