Dhaka mulls cotton imports from US to put off tariff risk
Bangladesh’s foreign affairs adviser Mohammad Touhid Hossain recently said the country is initiating steps to import cotton from the US in a strategic move to deter the latter from imposing tariffs on its exports. To boost domestic cotton production, the government will soon recognise cotton as an agricultural product and introduce subsidies for its cultivation.
