Conn-Weld Industries LLC of Princeton, W. Va., a custom manufacturer of vibrating screens (shaker screens) and parts for industries such as coal mining, sand and gravel, and aggregate and stone, was faced with a challenge. The high-volume manufacturer was looking for longer band saw blade life, faster cuts and a solution to a pinching issue it encountered during production with another brand of blades.
The company’s previous blades were pinching during the cutting process on large beams. Production Tooling Solutions (PTSolutions), a distributor of WIKUS Saw Technology Corp.’s bimetal band saw blades, conducted an analysis of Conn-Weld’s processes, and recommended the WIKUS PROFLEX SW M42 bimetal band saw blade as a solution. The extra wide special set means that profiles and girders with residual stresses can be separated without any problems. Conn-Weld also uses the WIKUS PROFLEX M42 bimetal band saw blades in its production processes, which feature the sturdy properties of both a special profile tooth and an extended connection between the cutting material and the carrier band.
“These blades solved all of their cutting challenges,” noted Randy Goss, service technician at WIKUS.
Conn-Weld also benefits from the quick delivery of the blades, noted Nathan Fink, fabrication manager, Conn-Weld, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. PTSolutions’ location in Salem, Va., provides a fast delivery time to support Conn-Weld’s production demands. “For the industries we serve, the quicker we can produce products, the better it is for our customers,” Fink said. “We produce a quality product in a reasonable time at an affordable price.”
