A list of America’s best breweries is being scrutinised by the sector with beer fans seeking to make their own assessments on the topic.
The ranking, compiled by Vinepair set out to showcase 30 of the best breweries of 2024, with the additional nod to beer trends such as hard seltzer, glitter beer, and brut IPA, now making their way into the sector.
The listicle featured breweries such as Alulu in Chicago Illinois and August Schell in Minnesota through to brewing businesses like Texas-based Jester King and Wisconsin's New Glarus.
Since the selection was released, it has also become the topic of a forum discussion via beer website Beer Advocate with some respondents flagging their agreements as well as thoughts on the breweries the professionals cited have chosen as "best".
Speaking about the listing, one reviewer from Michigan said on the forum: “I've been to, or had beers from six-eight of these breweries, and they are deserving of being on this list. Obscure defines the rest of them because I haven't heard of them in the forums here, or visited them - yet.”
Another respondent noted: “Living in the NW, I tend to identify with the Oregon beer scene. Even so, four breweries from Oregon strikes me as excessive and unwarranted. Pfriem would probably make my top 30 list, but none of the others would. Not that I dislike the beers from Sunriver, Ft. George and Living Haus, but I don't think they deserve to be on this list.”
The full list can be viewed here. However, a top 50 list of breweries in the US was also recently compiled by the Brewers Association which db revealed to show the businesses making an impact in the craft beer scene in America. That list can be read in full here.
