Aldi raises £11m for Teenage Cancer Trust

Aldi has raised £11m for Teenage Cancer Trust since partnering with the organisation in 2017.

The discounter’s staff have participated in a variety of fundraising activities across more than 1,050 stores, 11 regional distribution centres and its national head office, including bake sales and marathons.

Aldi noted customers had also played a vital role in the fundraising by making donations at their local stores.

The money will go towards supporting the charity to fund specialist nurses, youth workers and hospital units within the NHS to support 13-24 year olds who have been diagnosed with cancer.

The milestone comes less than a year after the grocer hit its £10m fundraising target for Teenage Cancer Trust, which it achieved three years early.

Since then, Aldi has pledged to reach its target of £15m by the end of 2027.

Aldi UK national sustainability director Liz Fox said: ““Our colleagues continue to go above and beyond in their commitment to supporting Teenage Cancer Trust, just as they have done throughout our partnership.

“Reaching this incredible milestone wouldn’t have been possible without their efforts and the remarkable generosity of our customers.

“Teenage Cancer Trust’s work is essential in providing life-changing support to young people affected by cancer, and we are proud to continue offering our support this year and beyond.”

Aldi partnered with Teenage Cancer Trust in 2017, where they first pledged to raise £5m for the charity over five years.

In 2021, the German discounter and Dobbies teamed up with the charity for a range of festive fundraising initiatives over the year.

Young people supported by the charity were invited to submit designs for the supermarket’s Christmas card range, with the winner going on sale in stores across the country.
