Chicago is perhaps one of the most underrated cities in the United States. As a native, I’m biased, but it really does have something for everyone. It has Michelin-starred dining, lively bars, a loyal sports culture, a beautiful waterfront and skyline, and so much more. So when it comes to staying in the Windy City, these are the best hotels in Chicago topping our list.
It’s to no surprise that the Four Seasons Chicago has the same five-star luxury as the rest of the brand’s portfolio. You can expect stately suites, a central location, and lush spa—whose services even include a Black Diamond Facial and The Method by Augustinus Bader.
If you go up the Magnificent Mile (also known as the city’s bustling Michigan Avenue), you will find The Peninsula. While it has a stunning spa, chic afternoon tea, and sprawling rooms, my personal favorite thing about this hotel is none other than its acclaimed Chinese restaurant Shanghai Terrace.
Even further up the street stands The Langham. Beloved for its gorgeous views of the Chicago River, the hotel offers you to pair your visit with a helicopter tour, golfing, cocktail-making classes, and more.
For a more boutique experience, head to Soho House in the hip West Loop. You can spend all day lounging at the hotel’s rooftop pool, or you can venture around Fulton Market and experience the vast array of buzzy restaurants and bars that characterize the neighborhood.
Excellent service and an ultra-luxe experience welcome all guests that check into Waldorf Astoria Chicago. Located right across the street from Dior, Versace, and Brunello Cucinelli (and more), the hotel is in the perfect spot for those looking to do a little bit of shopping during their visit. It’s right off of Michigan Avenue, too, so you are in the middle of everything but still tucked away.
Nobu Chicago is also in the heart of the West Loop, bringing a zen retreat to the area, enhanced by a tranquility pool, elevated fitness center, deluxe restaurant (Nobu, of course), and rooftop dining experience overlooking the city skyline.
In Chicago’s famed Loop resides Pendry Chicago. This luxury boutique hotel has historic roots, as it is set in the former 1929 Art Deco Carbide and Carbon Building. Blending a landmark location with contemporary amenities, the property is a great choice for those looking to experience the city like a local.
