Verdant Brewing Co has teamed up with independent beer business Craft Metropolis to start a London residency to give beer fans in the capital a place to find its brews.

The residency idea began when the brewery identified how beer fans “have been crying out for a new space to get together and drink a comprehensive range of the freshest Verdant kegs and cans available straight after release”.
A spokesperson for the Cornish brewery admitted: “The volume of requests has been so high that it hasn’t gone unnoticed at Verdant HQ. The team has been considering several options in the capital for some time.”
Last year Verdant revealed how the team met up with Oli Meade, owner of Craft Metropolis and lifelong Verdant fan and noted how the indie beer outfit consisted of an online webshop and two bars in London crammed with far-flung delights and hard-to-find beers. The spokesperson explained: “This meeting sparked the idea of a Verdant residency at Craft Metropolis Brixton”.
The bar, which is tucked away down a quiet alley near Loughborough Junction, is a tall railway arch with outdoor space and can accommodate parties of up to 100 people and hosts live music, films and sports screenings. The bar also serves 12 taps of beer, organic wines, local spirits, and cocktails, all paired with sourdough pizzas made by Yard Sale.
During Verdant’s residency, at least six taps will pour fresh Verdant kegs and casks, with weekly fresh exclusives said to be dropping every Friday. Verdant has also revealed it will also bring special small-batch and limited-edition beers, some of which will be exclusive to the Verdant Taproom and Craft Metropolis. Customers can also buy exclusive Verdant merch and cans to take away. Alongside this, the Verdant team has also unveiled plans to host in-person launch events and Friday beer tastings.
Speaking about the brewery’s plans to come to the capital, Verdant’s London and south sales manager Paul McTernan said: “This residency has been born out of a desire to create a new destination in London that offers something a little different, and when Oliver approached me with an idea of working together I was excited by the possibilities.”
McTernan explained: “Craft Metropolis Brixton is full of character and good vibes. Together we can create an amazing community space for people to gather while enjoying the freshest and best Verdant beers available. I'm excited for the future of the partnership.”
Verdant in Residence at Craft Metropolis will open on Saturday 22 February for a minimum of six months. Its exact location will be: Arch 263, 241 Coldharbour Lane, London SW9 8RR.
To celebrate our grand opening this Saturday, Craft Metropolis Brixton will be pouring the brand new PuTTTy 10% ABV Triple IPA along with six other Verdant beers.
