US Trade Representative has announced a two-phase plan to counter China’s dominance in shipbuilding and logistics. After a 180-day grace period, the US will impose increasing fees on Chinese-operated and Chinese-built vessels based on net tonnage or containers. A second phase, starting in three years, will gradually restrict foreign LNG carriers.
