Simon Family Estate purchases its first vineyard

Boutique producer Simon Family Estate has acquired Collinetta Vineyard in prestigious Napa Valley's Coombsville AVA for a reported sum of US$4 million.
Since producing its first vintage in 2019, Simon Family Estate has sourced fruit from around Napa, including those of Tench, Vine Hill Ranch, and the Collinetta Vineyard which the company has just acquired from the Rocca family.
Winemaker Maayan Koschitzky, who cut his teeth at wineries including Screaming Eagle, described the Collinetta Vineyard as the "secret weapon" which has contributed to Simon Family Estate's success. Cabernet Sauvignon from the four hectare vineyard is used in the blend for the 2021 Simon Napa Valley, making up around 30% of its composition.
Although a sum for the deal has not officially been disclosed, Wine Business noted that county records show that Erick Jerome Grigsby and Mary Frances Rocca sold the property for US$4 million.

This isn't the only vineyard acquisition in Coombsville AVA to have made headlines of late. Last week, db reported on how wine giant Marchesi Antinori acquired Arcadia Vineyard for an undisclosed sum, once again reuniting the 34ha vineyard, planted primarily under Cabernet Sauvignon vines, with Stag's Leap.
Simon Family Estate also recently made the top bid at last weekend's Premiere Napa Valley, with 60 bottles of its 2024 vintage fetching US$60,000.
