Self-Driven Janus Ga/Mg Micromotors for Reducing Deep Bacterial Infection in the Treatment of Periodontitis (Adv. Healthcare Mater. 10/2025)

Self-Propelled Micromotors for Periodontitis Therapy

A Janus Ga/Mg micromotor combined with the self-propulsion properties induced by magnesium catalytic reaction and the bactericidal properties of gallium liquid metal, has been developed for the treatment of periodontitis. The micromotor can break through the periodontal gingival crevice fluid barrier and efficiently kill Porphyromonas gingivalis, the causative organism of periodontitis at the bottom of the periodontal pockets.
