Russell Group appoints David Paterson as CEO

The Russell Group is pleased to announce the appointment of David Paterson as Chief Executive Officer, effective 30th March 2025. This leadership change follows the phased retirement of current CEO Alan Poulton, who will step down from his role on 29th March 2025 after more than 15 years of dedicated service.

David Paterson, who has served as Managing Director of Carntyne Transport since 2010, brings a wealth of experience in logistics and leadership to his new position. In his expanded role, David will oversee all activities within the Russell Group, including John G Russell (Transport), Russell RailRoad and Carntyne Transport, ensuring strategic alignment and operational excellence.

Speaking about his appointment, David said: “It is a privilege to step into this role and lead the Russell Group. I look forward to building on our strong partnerships and ensuring we continue to provide exceptional service and sustainable innovative solutions to our valued customers.”
