Pediatric Gender Medicine—Reply

In Reply Drs Streed and Baker attribute to us arguments we never made. We argued that current research on the safety and efficacy of medical interventions for youth with gender dysphoria is woefully inadequate. We called for better research to ensure that these vulnerable patients receive the best treatment possible. We are not alone in our concerns: health authorities in Sweden, Finland, and the UK recommend restricting endocrinological interventions for minors to research settings or exceptional cases. We concluded that if the US medical profession does not commit to working to improve this field of medicine, the government would continue to step in.
