Part of The Grand Tour Trio Returns for New Show

Part of the iconic trio from The Grand Tour and Top Gear are returning for a special, but it’s not what you’re likely hoping for. James May and Richard Hammond are teaming up on a new show called The Not Very Grand Tour, a retrospective that covers some of their more memorable moments on camera.

Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May last teamed up on the final special from Amazon’s The Grand Tour last year, but Clarkson won’t be a part of the new show, with his appearances limited to film clips. Former Top Gear and The Grand Tour director Phil Churchward will be on board, however. The British Board of Film Classification said, “The team celebrates the combustion engine, with a look back at footage from past adventures and test drives.”

There will be multiple episodes following the show’s debut on April 18, but we only currently know about its United Kingdom release. No news on a North American debut, but it’s very unlikely that Amazon would delay a rollout in one of its most important markets.

The Grand Tour is expected to be rebooted with new hosts at some point in the future, which we hope goes more smoothly than Top Gear did after the trio’s departure. While Clarkson’s absence from the new show is disappointing for fans, his ultra-popular farming show has continued filming, and all three hosts have featured prominently on social media.
