Lidl is set to become the first supermarket to sell directly through TikTok Shop, launching 3,000 exclusive high-protein product bundles on the platform starting at 9am on 20 February.
The bundles, priced at £5 each, are said to be worth £30, with all proceeds going to the NSPCC, The Grocer reported.
Available exclusively on the @Lidl TikTok Shop, the bundles will include a selection of high-protein products such as IronMaxx 100% Whey Protein, Snacktastic High Protein Pop Chips, Belbake Protein Pancake Mix, Crownfield High Protein Flapjacks, and Maribel High Protein Peanut Butter.
As an added bonus, each bundle will come with limited-edition merchandise from the German discounter, including a Lidl-branded microfibre towel and a resistance band set.
Lidl claims it is the first supermarket to sell directly on TikTok Shop, joining other brands such as Asos and Boots that have used the platform to connect with consumers.
The move follows the success of various brands, including Nivea, who have launched on the platform, but Lidl is thought to be the first supermarket to do so.
Lidl GB marketing director Joanna Gomer said: “Our high-protein range is a firm fan favourite, with more than 150 high-protein products sold in our stores every minute, and our customers across the country taking to social media to share their hauls each week.
“With the number of TikTok shoppers growing rapidly, we’re proud to be the first supermarket meeting our customers directly on the platform with our unique offering, creating these exclusive bundles to showcase our new exciting products.”
Alongside the TikTok-exclusive bundles, Lidl is also offering loyalty scheme members a chance to claim 25% off chilled high-protein products in-store with Lidl Plus coupons. The supermarket’s full range of high-protein items is also available in-store.
Research cited by the supermarket found that over a third of TikTok’s 1.69bn users make purchases through the platform, with more than half using it for shopping inspiration.
