Meadowhall shopping centre has unveiled a trio of deals with JD, Superdrug and Ann Summers, with the brands increasing their store sizes to a combined 42,278sq ft.

JD Sports is upsizing to take five adjacent units to create a 29,225sq ft store, almost trebling its presence on the Sheffield based shopping centre’s Lower Level High Street.

The store marks the sports fashion retailer’s biggest in the region as well as its second largest nationally.

The new 63m frontage will enable JD to better showcase a host of global brands, such as Nike, Adidas and The North Face, within the centre, according to the retailer.

The larger space is set to open in 2026, and will feature dedicated brand and product areas alongside regular in-store activations.

JD director of group acquisitions James Air said: “I am absolutely thrilled that we will be delivering one of our largest stores in Europe at Meadowhall.

“With over 60 metres of frontage in a prime location, I am confident this will be one of our very best stores.”

The news comes after JD recently upsized its presence at Charter Walk Shopping Centre in Burnley, with the move increasing its ground floor trading space from 3,973 sq ft to 5,817 sq ft.

Additionally, Superdrug is relocating on the shopping centre’s Lower Level High Street, and is set to launch one of its biggest shops in the country at the end of May, measuring 10,199 sq ft.

The site will display the latest trending beauty products and feature beauty treatments such as ear piercing, manicures, and eye-brow threading at expert Beauty Studios.

Meanwhile, Ann Summers is also upsizing into a 2,854sq ft unit on the centre’s Lower Level High Street.

British Land retail leasing director Richard Crowther said: “Meadowhall continues to attract strategic investment from leading national and international brands.

“JD, Superdrug, and Ann Summers are the latest tenants to recommit to the destination, following 26 retailers that invested over £30m in their stores in the last 12 months.

“These substantial lease agreements will only elevate Meadowhall’s Lower High Street, as part of a centre that really dominates its region.”
