Japan’s Mitsubishi Chemical to exit PET bottle business by 2026
Mitsubishi Chemical will exit the PET bottle business due to rising raw material and logistics costs that have hurt profitability. Despite cost-cutting efforts, future growth prospects remain low. Production will end by December 31, 2025, and sales will cease by March 31, 2026. The move affects plants in Hiratsuka (Kanagawa) and Azai (Shiga).
