India’s raw silk output drops 21% in FY25 after 3 years of growth: CSB
India’s raw silk production is estimated to fall by 21.32 per cent to 30,614 tons in 2024–25, after 3 consecutive years of growth. Mulberry silk remained dominant, contributing over 75 per cent. Raw silk exports stood at $215 million during April–December 2024, while imports dropped to 1,561 tons. Domestic silk prices declined slightly, with mulberry cocoons averaging ₹434/kg and raw silk ₹3,602/kg.
