Gold Fields ordered to vacate Damang mine area by April 18
The Minerals Commission of Ghana has rejected JSE-listed Gold Fields’ application for an extension of the Damang main mining lease for another 30 years and instructed the company to cease operations and vacate the area by April 18. Gold Fields applied for an extension of the Damang main mining lease through its indirect subsidiary Abosso Goldfields in December last year.
