The James L. Knight Center in Miami is set to host a groundbreaking event in the international real estate sector. From May 9-11, 2025, the International Property Show will be the first exhibition exclusively dedicated to foreign properties held on U.S. territory.
This historic gathering culminates Ilana Klochkov‘s vision to democratize global real estate ownership for everyday Americans.
A Global Real Estate Marketplace
The International Property Show is pivotal as American interest in foreign real estate continues to rise. Political shifts, remote work normalization, and retirement planning have increased curiosity about property ownership beyond U.S. borders.
“We’re seeing a positive shift in the way Americans perceive property ownership,” says Ilana Klochkov, founder of RealtiesAbroad.com and creator of the exhibition. “The timing couldn’t be better,” she adds, noting that according to U.S. State Department estimates, only around 8 million Americans currently live abroad—highlighting significant potential for growth in international residential real estate among U.S. buyers.
Breaking Down Barriers
The exhibition tackles critical obstacles historically preventing Americans from purchasing property abroad: market access limitations, verification concerns, legal challenges, networking gaps, deal scarcity, and risk concerns. Attendees can connect with real estate agencies, property developers, mortgage consultants, and attorneys from countries such as Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Greece, and the Caribbean.
These experts will provide essential education on foreign real estate regulations, mortgage options, and the purchasing process tailored specifically for U.S. citizens. This comprehensive approach reflects how Americans now perceive international property ownership—not merely as financial vehicles but as lifestyle decisions with multigenerational implications.
Democratizing International Ownership
The International Property Show deliberately showcases options across various price points, starting at around $100,000, comparable to many domestic properties in middle America. This accessibility extends to the exhibition, with tickets priced at $10 online and $20 at the door to encourage broad attendance.
Ilana Klochkov believes foreign property ownership should not be limited to high-net-worth individuals. “International real estate can be a solid investment in a strong global economy for individual investors and can often provide a higher standard of living and better retirement,” she states.
Future Expansion and Vision
Following the Miami debut, plans are underway to expand the exhibition to 10 to 12 additional U.S. cities throughout late 2025 and into 2026. Each exhibition will become an annual event in its respective market, creating ongoing opportunities for Americans to explore international real estate options.
Ilana Klochkov’s plans are more than about simple transactions to embrace the potential of international real estate for both wealth creation and cultural connection. With RealtiesAbroad.com and the International Property Show, she aims to make the dream of owning property abroad a tangible reality for a broader spectrum of Americans.
