In a world where women often face unique challenges in their professional journeys, Eva Kalivas stands out as a beacon of empowerment. As the founder of Empower Women That Rock (EWTR), Kalivas is dedicated to uplifting women in leadership and executive roles, providing them with the tools and support they need to thrive.
Kalivas’s personal journey is both inspiring and relatable. One of her defining moments came with the publication of her book, “I Get Knocked Down, A Woman’s Survival Guide to Business and Life.” What began as a personal journal during her tumultuous first decade in finance transformed into a published work that hit the shelves of select Barnes & Noble stores and became available on Amazon. This book was not just a reflection of her experiences; it was a testament to her resilience and determination.
Originally conceived as a journal during her challenging first decade in the finance industry, the book evolved into a collection of chapters that caught the attention of NK Publications. With her niece designing the cover, Kalivas’ work soon graced the shelves of select Barnes & Noble locations and became available on Amazon.
Reflecting on her journey two decades later, Kalivas recognizes the courage it took to share her personal story with the hope of inspiring others. The publication opened doors for her to participate in book signings, readings, and conferences, all while managing the demands of co-founding an investment consulting firm, navigating the emotional aftermath of 9/11, and maintaining a busy social life. A significant highlight was her book reading at Barnes & Noble, where she grew up surrounded by supportive family and friends. Despite grappling with imposter syndrome, Kalivas successfully overcame her insecurities. She hopes that one day, her daughter will read this book and gain insight into her mother’s journey, instilling in her the importance of self-belief.
“I wrote this book to help others who might relate to my struggles,” Kalivas shared. “It was a way for me to break free from the insecurities that had held me back in my twenties. I want my daughter to read it one day and see that she should always believe in herself.”
Kalivas’s role as a fiduciary specialist further shaped her leadership approach. Tasked with guiding Retirement Plan Committees, she honed her skills in creating processes and fostering discussions that prioritized the well-being of employees. This meticulous attention to detail and commitment to serving others translated seamlessly into her work with EWTR.
Empower Women That Rock is more than just a networking group; it’s a movement focused on professional and personal growth. Through workshops and educational initiatives, EWTR provides members with invaluable opportunities to connect with women in leadership across various industries. Kalivas emphasizes the importance of shared wisdom and support within this community.
“Our launch meeting was a turning point for me,” she recalled. “As members shared their stories, I could feel our collective strength. It reinforced our mission to elevate and empower one another.”
The impact of EWTR is already being felt in the community. Kalivas measures success through membership referrals and community involvement, indicating a strong foundation for growth. She hopes to see the organization become the premier network for women in leadership nationwide, providing mentorship to both established professionals and young women entering the workforce.
Collaboration is key to EWTR’s mission. Kalivas is actively seeking partnerships that can enhance the organization’s reach and impact. She believes that by working together, they can create meaningful change in the lives of the women they serve.
