DFS has named former Holland & Barrett CEO Tony Buffin as an independent non-executive director.
Buffin, who sat in the top seat the health and wellness chain from 2019 to the start of 2021, will join the furniture giant’s board effective immediately.
He is currently the chair of kitchen specialist Nobia AB and a non-exec of Applied Nutrition. He has also held several senior c-suite executive positions at Travis Perkins and Coles Group.
Buffin will also be appointed as a member of the audit, remuneration, responsible and sustainable business, and nomination committees, and as the designated non-executive director.
DFS chair Steve Johnson said: “I am delighted that Tony is joining the board. His significant retail experience is directly relevant to the DFS strategy.
“I look forward to working closely with Tony as we move forward with our strategy to accelerate growth and develop our home offering.”
DFS reported strong trading for the first half of its financial year at the start of the year, driven by market share gains, cost efficiencies, and improved gross margins.
For the 26 weeks to 29 December, the retailer posted a pre-tax profit of approximately £16–17m, representing a year-on-year increase of £7–8m.
