The prevalence of type 2 diabetes is rising globally, with a disproportionate impact on individuals in low-income and middle-income countries, where access to care and new therapies is often limited. Many people with type 2 diabetes also live with other long-term conditions,1 making therapeutic management complex. Most of these patients are treated in primary and community care settings,2,3 where clinicians face substantial challenges in choosing appropriate therapies amid a growing number of medication classes.
