[Comment] Challenges in undertaking research in transplantation

In just over 60 years, transplantation has evolved from an experimental procedure to the treatment of choice for patients with end-stage organ failure. This achievement is the result of arduous research in many fields including immunology, surgery, and medicine, often relying on the use of donated organs. It is also the result of successful translation of experimental procedures and new knowledge into routine clinical practice, even when innovations have challenged societal, ethical, and philosophical norms.
