Belk to open two new outlet locations in North Carolina
Belk Store Credits: Belk Privately-owned department store group Belk is set to open two new outlet stores this spring in North Carolina. Opening at the Eastridge Mall in Gastonia and the Triangle Town Center Mall in Raleigh, the move sees the retailer opening its second and third outlet locations in its home state. The outlet arm of Belk, Belk Outlet features a wide selection of high-end, national designer brands sold at Belk at a discounted price. A large percentage of merchandise available at Belk Outlet stems from conventional Belk stores, next to value fashion and home merchandise purchased for the outlet stores. Similar to other Belk Outlets, both stores will operate as traditional Belk stores on the second level and have the first floor dedicated to the outlets. A unique retail concept, this experience lets customers easily shop for products at the traditional Belk while browsing discounted, high-end and designer national branded products at the outlet. “Since opening our first outlet nearly two years ago, our customers have come to love the concept of combining our traditional stores and outlets in one place,” said Don Hendricks, CEO of Belk, in a statement. “We're excited to incorporate this approach into additional locations this year. This will give even more of our North Carolina customers the ability to shop a large range of designer and high-end national brands at a lower cost.” Belk opened its first outlet store in January 2023 in Greeneville, and has opened 16 additional locations across the country since then. The Charlotte-based group first implemented the two-story concept at its Northlake Mall location in Charlotte, where it turned one floor of the property into an outlet and kept the other a traditional store.
