South Africa’s Presidency has expressed concern over new tariffs that have been imposed on South African exports to the US following President Donald Trump’s April 2 'Liberation Day' announcement. Trump said “reciprocal tariffs” of 30% would be implemented on South Africa, while also imposing a 10% base tariff, alongside higher individual tariffs for specific countries, including 20% for the European Union, 24% for Japan, 26% for India and 34% for China.
