Yorkshire brewery, T&R Theakston has introduced its Yorkshire ‘AKA beer in celebration of this year’s Six Nations rugby tournament.

The 4.2% ABV red ale takes its name from the viral video depicting a Yorkshire interpretation of the traditional war dance performed by members of New Zealand teams at the commencement of international sporting events. The beer has been created with a blend of international ingredients sourced from the countries taking part in the Six Nations annual tournament, including malts from Ireland and Scotland, honey from Wales and hops from England, France and Italy.
Speaking to
the drinks business, Theakston’s chairman Simon Theakston said: “We’ve received some very favourable feedback from our trade customers already for our Yorkshire ‘AKA, licensees have praised the beer’s taste and use of ingredients from across the six nations.”
Theakston also told

Theakston has never been shy at stating what receives its backing. It had previously also gone so far as to predict. trends and even noted how
British beer was poised to replace ‘aggressive’ New World flavour trends.
As a business, it highlighted how much the New World hopped IPA market was saturated, creating an opportunity for British beers offering balance to swoop in.
