South Asian textile trade: Bangladesh’s imports recover in 2024

Bangladesh remains reliant on South Asian nations of India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka for yarn and fabric imports despite competing with them in the apparel sector. In 2024, Bangladesh’s yarn imports from India rose by 32.55 per cent to $1.75 billion, recovering from a 2023 decline. Fabric imports also increased by 10.29 per cent. Imports from Pakistan and Sri Lanka fluctuated.
