If you’re looking for an ultra-authentic and all-encompassing omakase experience, Sushi Ouji is a must-visit. From the extra fresh sushi to the impeccable service and staff, this hidden SoHo gem offers quiet and refined top-quality dining. Straightforward, but never lacking in taste or character, Sushi Ouji owner Emily Lin’s main focus is the quality which is why the food here has no bells or whistles. The fish is imported weekly from the Toyosu Fish Market in Tokyo. Diners can expect premium seafood like Japanese Bluefin tuna or Kuruma Ebi and even premium-grade Barfun Narabi Uni straight from Hokkaido.

Innovative, yet traditional Sushi Mumi is an intimate eight-seat sushi counter located in the East Village that’s helmed by Chef Marco Lin, the former chef of Michelin-starred Sushi Ginza Ondera. Chef Lin’s artistry is showcased through a unique 18-course Edomae-style tashkent menu utilizing meticulously crafted, hyper-seasonal ingredients. Each course is a testament to Chef Lin’s innovative techniques and commitment to highlighting the natural flavors of beautiful, prized seafood, predominantly sourced from Toyosu Market in Japan.

The beloved LA Michelin-starred concept, Sushi by Scratch, has finally reached Manhattan. Husband-and-wife duo Chef Phillip Frankland Lee and Margarita Kallas Lee serve an innovative 17-course omakase-inspired tasting menu at a speakeasy-style counter in the heart of the Flatiron District. Signature courses include Hmachi painted yellow with sweet corn pudding topped with breadcrumbs and Lee’s signature 1-2 punch of Roasted Bone Marrow nigiri seasoned with soy sauce, sea salt, and freshly grated wasabi root.

Sushi and a view—what more could you ask for? Luckily, Saishin has both. One of New York’s elevated Japanese dining destinations, offering picturesque panoramic city views from the rooftop of Gansevoort Meatpacking, has a newly appointed executive chef, Isaac Kek, who presents a multi-course omakase tasting. Kek offers a delectable array of Asian dishes that focus on blending traditional and modern flavors. Each is paired perfectly with Saishin’s signature cocktail or house Sake.
