Majestic returns to Lord’s in a winning partnership
Majestic and the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) have rekindled their collaboration after a seven-year partnership from 2012 to 2019.  Under the new agreement, Majestic will supply all wine and spirits at Lord's, including taking over the Wine Bar behind the Warner Stand and providing MCC’s own-label wine and champagne products.  The retailer will also join the MCC Extras Affiliates programme, offering Members a range of exclusive deals and discounts. Since its acquisition by Fortress Investment Group in 2019 following a split from Naked Wines plc, Majestic has been in expansion mode, opening 22 new stores, acquiring wine bar group Vagabond and investing significantly in its on-trade division, which was named On-Trade Supplier of the Year 2024 by the drinks business.

A new line-up

Following December’s announcement that BrewDog is now the official beer supplier at Lord’s, Majestic’s return increases the selection of both alcoholic and no and low alcohol drinks, reflecting the evolving tastes of modern cricket-goers.

Enthusiasm from both sides

Andy Muggleton, MCC commercial director, shared his delight at the renewed partnership, stating: “Our goal is to ensure that every aspect of our Members and other visitors’ experience at Lord’s is as enjoyable as we can make it, from our exceptional customer service to the unrivalled match play experience, to the world-class food and drink that tops off a perfect day at the cricket.  “We’re delighted to be back in partnership with Majestic who I know share this goal and we look forward to seeing the Majestic offering being enjoyed by all.” John Colley, CEO of Majestic, echoed the enthusiasm: “Lord’s Cricket Ground is an iconic sporting stadium recognised around the world, so we are excited to once again be offering our award-winning wines and spirits to visitors and MCC Members.  “Our ambition is to establish Majestic Commercial among the UK’s largest and most trusted wine suppliers to the on-trade and hospitality sectors, and this partnership with MCC illustrates the excellent progress we are making on that growth journey.”

A welcome return

So, while some returns to Lord’s in recent years may have been met with a little more controversy, (see MMC rule changes or Bairstow’s dismissal in 2023) Majestic’s is sure to be warmly received.
