FENDI Takes Over Bookstores During Milan Fashion Week To Celebrate 100 Years

Milan Fashion Week is set to witness a unique cultural fusion as FENDI launches a citywide bookstore and newsstand takeover from February 24 to March 2, 2025. This bold initiative coincides with Milan Fashion Week and serves as the launchpad for FENDI’s centenary celebrations, spotlighting the Women’s and Men’s Fall/Winter 2025-2026 coed fashion show designed by Silvia Venturini Fendi. Marking 100 years since its founding in Rome, the luxury house is blending its rich heritage with a forward-thinking approach through this immersive event.

FENDI is transforming Milan’s bookstores and newsstands into vibrant showcases, featuring dedicated corners, window displays, and totem installations. At the heart of this takeover are two striking publications: FENDI Baguette ‘Hand in Hand’ and FENDI Peekaboo-k. These volumes chronicle the stories behind FENDI’s iconic bags—the Baguette and the Peekaboo—while celebrating the Maison’s legacy of innovation and artistry. Limited-edition copies autographed by Silvia Venturini Fendi will also be available, offering collectors a rare piece of the brand’s history.

The takeover spans six iconic Milanese venues, each with its own distinct character. Hoepli, a historic bookstore near the Duomo founded in 1870, is renowned for its vast selection of technical and creative works. Libreria Bocca, established in 1775 within the celebrated Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, serves as a haven for art and fashion enthusiasts. In the Brera Design District, Edicola Largo Treves reimagines the traditional newsstand as a creative hub for pop-up events. The ADI Museum Bookshop, nestled within the ADI Design Museum, celebrates Italian design innovation with a curated mix of classic and contemporary works. Edicola Civic Portanuova, located in the modern Porta Nuova district, blends newsstand tradition with a community-driven, forward-looking spirit. Finally, Edicola Civic Darsena, overlooking the scenic Navigli waterways, fuses design, culture, and fashion into a lively, reinvented setting.

These locations, steeped in Milan’s cultural fabric, provide the perfect backdrop for FENDI’s centennial narrative.

FENDI Hand in Hand

First released to celebrate the Baguette bag’s 25th anniversary, this book honors collaborations with 40 Italian artisans, spotlighting traditional techniques like vegetable leatherwork, coral crafting, and mosaic art. Photographer Lorenzo Vitturi captures these reinterpretations, merging photography and sculpture, while curators Eugenio Viola, Orsola de Castro, and Aldo Bakker offer thought-provoking essays on craftsmanship’s past, present, and future.

FENDI Peekaboo-k

Marking 15 years since Silvia Venturini Fendi unveiled the Peekaboo in 2008, this volume explores the bag’s evolution through 80 archival pieces, divided into four chapters. Contributions from global creatives Sophie Fontanel, Kengo Kuma, Chloe Bailey, and Naomi Watts enrich the narrative, with a candid family discussion between Silvia, Delfina Delettrez Fendi, and Leonetta Luciano Fendi adding a personal touch to the tale of this playful yet timeless design.

This takeover is a statement of FENDI’s enduring commitment to craftsmanship, heritage, and innovation during one of the biggest weeks of the year, Milan Fashion Week. As the brand prepares to unveil its Fall/Winter 2025-2026 collection on February 26, 2025, at 7:30 PM CET (streamed live for global audiences), the Milanese activation underscores its roots as a family-led Roman Maison that continues to shape the future of luxury. From the artisanal brilliance of the Baguette to the architectural elegance of the Peekaboo, FENDI’s story is one of creativity, collaboration, and a century of iconic moments—now brought to life in the heart of Milan.
