Fatal accident reported at Fortuna’s Séguéla mine
A fatal accident has occurred at Fortuna Mining's Séguéla gold mine in Côte d’Ivoire, the NYSE- and TSX-listed company reported on Tuesday. The incident took place on Monday at the contractor’s light vehicle maintenance workshop when an employee of Mapa Protection Incendie (MPI), a service provider to the mine’s contractor Mota Engil, was refilling fire extinguishers. An explosion occurred during the procedure, resulting in fatal injuries to the MPI employee.
