THE WHAT? Elementis plc has sold its Talc business to IMI Fabi for US$121 million, marking a strategic shift to focus on its core specialty additives portfolio in the Coatings and Personal Care sectors.
THE DETAILS The sale, delivering about US$55 million in net cash, follows a strategic review launched last August and transfers all Talc assets, sites, and staff to IMI Fabi, where they will operate under the Mondo Minerals and IMI Fabi brands. With this divestment, Elementis improves its operating profit margin by ~240 basis points and accelerates its 2026 financial targets. CEO Luc van Ravenstein, appointed in April 2025, confirmed plans for a US$50 million share buyback, highlighting strong confidence in the streamlined company’s future.
THE WHY? By shedding its Talc business, Elementis sharpens its focus on high-margin Coatings and Personal Care markets, positioning itself for profitable, cash-generative growth while rewarding shareholders with a buyback program.
