Dunelm names former Laura Ashley CEO as non-exec

Dunelm has brought in Katharine Poulter, the former CEO of Laura Ashley, as a non-executive director with immediate effect.

Poulter currently serves as chief commercial officer at McCarthy Stone, a developer and manager of retirement communities, and has previously held senior roles at Indigo Books & Music, Hobbycraft, Wilko, and Dobbies Garden Centre.

Her extensive retail experience will support the retailer’s strategic goals, with Poulter joining key committees including audit and risk, remuneration, and nomination.

Dunelm chair Alison Brittain said: “I am very pleased to welcome Katharine to Dunelm. I have no doubt that her wide-ranging retail experience will add value as we continue to build on our unique and specialist proposition.”

“Her appointment reflects our ongoing focus on ensuring effective board composition with complementary skills, and I look forward to working with her.”

Last month Dunelm reported strong growth for the 13-week period ending 29 March 2025, with total sales increasing by 6.3% to £462m.

The homewares retailer noted a solid start to its new Spring/Summer ranges and impressive growth in digital sales, which now make up 41% of total sales.
