THE WHAT? Beiersdorf Nigeria has launched its dermatological skincare brand Eucerin in the Nigerian market, marking an expansion of the company’s personal care portfolio in West Africa.
THE DETAILS The launch event took place at the Marriott Hotel in Lagos, bringing together professionals from dermatology, pharmacy, and the beauty sector. The event centred on Eucerin’s patented ingredient Thiamidol, introduced in Nigeria as a key component in treating hyperpigmentation.
Presentations were led by Prof. Firas Al-Niaimi, a UK-based dermatologist, and Nathalie Gemayel, Beiersdorf’s Regional Medical Manager, who discussed the science behind the Thiamidol molecule and its mechanism of action on skin pigmentation.
A panel of Nigerian dermatologists addressed usage protocols and discussed the limitations of current bleaching practices, framing the new range as a regulated alternative.
THE WHY? Nigeria’s skincare sector has seen increasing demand for safe, clinically tested solutions to hyperpigmentation. The Eucerin launch comes in the context of regulatory scrutiny over unregulated bleaching products. With this launch, Beiersdorf is extending its dermatological product offering beyond NIVEA and entering a market segment characterised by consumer concerns around efficacy and safety in personal care.
