Morrisons names ex-Lidl director as new marketing boss

Morrisons has appointed Lidl’s former marketing boss Claire Farrant to head up its marketing department.

Farrant will join the supermarket chain in early June as group marketing director and replaces Rachel Eyre, who is leaving the business after more than four years.

Farrant has spent the last two years at BP where she has been the vice president of mobility and convenience for Europe.

Prior to that, she spent 18 years in the grocery sector including more than eight years as marketing director at Lidl UK and six years holding several senior roles at Tesco.

As the group marketing director for Morrisons, Farrant will work closely with Matt McLellan, who joins from Asda at the beginning of June in the newly created role of group data and media director.

The supermarket’s chief executive Rami Baitiéh said: “Claire has an outstanding record in UK grocery and her deep experience, clear customer focus and proven strategic marketing skills will make her a valuable new addition to our senior team.

“I would also like to thank Rachel for her contribution to Morrisons over several years and wish her the very best for the future.”
