Stellantis Reveals 2026 Jeep Compass With New Electric Variant

Jeep’s first electric SUV has only recently gone on sale, but we’re already learning about the brand’s next model. The redesigned 2026 Compass will arrive later this year, and with it, an all-new electric variant, though it will first release in European markets.

Spy shots of the new SUV recently leaked on social media, leading Stellantis to pull back the curtain on the Jeep. European buyers will have gas, electric, PHEV, and mild-hybrid powertrain options, with the top EV offering 375 horsepower and dual-motor all-wheel drive. The Compass’ rear motor was designed to enable climbing 20 percent slopes, even if the front wheels have no grip.

Stellantis didn’t elaborate much on the other powertrain configurations, but it said the base EV will offer a single electric motor with 213 horsepower and noted that the PHEV will arrive with 195 combined horsepower. We don’t know what kind of engine it will use or its electric range estimates, but the plug-in hybrid comes standard with all-wheel drive.

The Compass EV can charge at up to 160 kW on a DC fast charger, which allows charging from 20 to 80 percent in around half an hour. Range estimates reach 404 miles on the WLTP cycle, but it’s important to note that it’s typically far more generous than the EPA’s estimates, so the EV’s numbers will likely change significantly if and when it comes to the United States.
