Mezzacorona president Luca Rigotti will lead the Pinot Grigio powerhouse that is Consorzio delle Venezie DOC over the next three years.

Rigotti, a former board member of the consorzio, was elected president by its board of directors. He will be joined by vice-presidents Christian Scrinzi (Collis Veneto Wine Group) and Flavio Bellomo (Cantina di Conegliano, Vittorio Veneto and Casarsa) during his 2025 to 2028 term.
Outgoing president Albino Armani wished Rigotti well in the role and commented: "I would like to thank the board of directors that I have had the honour of chairing over the past few years, in a challenging but fruitful journey for the Pinot Grigio system, which has proved and continues to prove a virtuous case of coordination and far-sighted administration of the denomination."
Over the course of Armani's presidency, the Delle Venezie DOC appellation, which covers three regions in the north-east of Italy (Veneto, Trentino-Alto Adige and Friuli-Venezia Giulia), witnessed a significant increase in its production, with the volume of wine bottled under it in 2024 reaching 1.7 million hectolitres, a 3% year-on-year increase.
A statement from Rigotti emphasised the importance of "continuity": "Our primary objective will be to consolidate and strengthen the positioning and territorial and economic value of Pinot Grigio DOC Delle Venezie, which has been confirmed as the best-selling Italian still wine in the world. We will continue to promote and implement measures to manage production potential, which in recent years have ensured significant growth of the denomination on the markets."
Rigotti also noted that Delle Venezie will need to adapt to combat the mounting crises for the wine industry,
issues which were discussed during 2023's Delle Venezie DOC International Forum.
"Today, more than ever, it is essential to be able to respond with innovation, planning and dynamism to the changes taking place: new consumption patterns, environmental, economic and social sustainability, market consolidation, and climate change, issues of the highest priority that will be at the centre of our action," he said.
