Co-op extends Uber Eats partnership

Co-op has extended its quick commerce partnership with Uber Eats for another three years, strengthening the convenience retailer’s commitment to rapid home delivery.
Under the partnership, which started in 2022, the number of Co-op stores where Uber Eats is available has increased to more than 1,300.
As part of the renewal, the retailer is extending its work with Uber Direct – Uber’s white-label last-mile delivery service, which already offers a delivery service from the retailer’s own online shop.
Uber Direct will now work closely with the supermarket on deliveries for orders places via its ‘Peckish’ app, which is dedicated to supporting independent local grocery retailers in communities across the UK.
It will also see Co-op continue to offer member price savings for Uber Eats users, offering the supermarket’s more than six million member-owners access to savings on almost 200 products when ordering groceries and everyday essentials through the delivery app.
Co-op quick commerce director Chris Conway said: “Innovation is fundamental to our approach, whether extending reach and choice, creating value through member price savings, or, delivering the Peckish app to give independent grocery retailers a voice online.
“We see consumer appetite for quick, easy and convenient grocery delivery continue to grow and the agreement with Uber Eats marks the start of a new chapter where we will work together to meet the evolving needs of shoppers and, to grow Co-op’s leading q-comm channel.”
Uber Eats grocery and retail UK and EMEA regional general manager Alex Troughton added: “Uber Eats and Co-op have built a strong and successful partnership, making grocery shopping more convenient than ever.
“We’re thrilled to extend this collaboration and introduce Uber Direct, which will allow Co-op to serve even more customers through its own digital channels while continuing to offer delivery via Uber Eats.”
